About Us

Torfaen Pride is proudly organised by Club F.O.D Cymru, a registered charity in England and Wales (Charity No. 1211398). Originally established as a branch of Club F.O.D, our rapid growth and the enthusiastic support from the local community led us to register as an independent charity, enabling us to better serve the unique needs of LGBTQ+ individuals across South Wales.

Our mission is to combat social isolation and foster a sense of belonging within the LGBTQ+ community. Through events like Torfaen Pride, we aim to create inclusive spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and celebrated.

The inaugural Torfaen Pride took place on 1st June 2024 at the picturesque Pontypool Park. Thanks to overwhelming community support, it became one of the largest free-to-enter Pride events in Wales, drawing attendees from across the region.

As we look forward to future events, our commitment remains steadfast: to celebrate diversity, promote inclusivity, and ensure that Pride is accessible to all.

Club F.O.D Cymru initially began life as the South Wales branch of Club F.O.D. Club F.O.D initially began in May 2019 as a regular dedicated LGBT+ Night in Reading, Berkshire. Reading had lost its original Gay Bars and local venues who had tried to put on Gay Nights tended to target the students and would only put a midweek night on that started while most of us were going to bed ready for work the next day! As we started to grow, we realised that we were fulfilling a much bigger need and in September 2020, registered as a charity in England & Wales (No. 1191158) and structured as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Following the success of Torfaen Pride, Club F.O.D Cymru registered with the Charity Commission in its own right.

The objects of Club F.O.D Cymru are:

The promotion of equality and diversity for the public benefit by:

  • Advancing education and raising awareness in equality and diversity and to provide signposting to other local support services
  • Hosting and the promotion of a range of activities to increase social inclusion for members of the LGBT+ community in the local area
  • Cultivating a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity
  • Increasing or co-ordinating opportunities for members of the LGBT+ community to engage with local service providers and to work with such organisations to better meet the needs of the community

Club F.O.D Cymru has no paid employees. Every person involved volunteers their time freely as they want to make a difference for the LGBT+ community locally.

We all have different roles and responsibilities to ensure the day to day activities of Club F.O.D Cymru take place

The trustees make the key financial and legal decisions and are responsible for ensuring that Club F.O.D Cymru adheres to its responsibilities as a charity.
